38th Meeting of ESEF Board of Directors Held in Peshawar

Peshawar, April 23, 2026: The 38th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Elementary & Secondary Education Foundation (ESEF) was held on April 23, 2026, at the ESEF Head Office, Peshawar.The meeting was chaired by Mr. Arshad Ayub Khan, Honourable Minister for Elementary & Secondary Education, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Mr. Muhammad Khalid, Secretary, Elementary & Secondary Education Department (ESED), also attended the session.Mr. Qaisar Alam, Managing Director, ESEF, presented the agenda items and briefed the Board on the progress achieved in implementing decisions taken during the 37th Board meeting.The Board deliberated on a range of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing access to quality education across the province. Key highlights included:Scaling up Foundation Virtual Schools, including the relocation of the school to a dedicated state-of-the-art facility in Peshawar, expansion of learning opportunities in underserved and remote areas, and the introduction of AI-powered teaching tools to support modern, adaptive, and personalized learning.It was noted with satisfaction that the outsourcing of 500 low-performing government schools under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model has been successfully completed, aimed at improving service delivery and student learning outcomes.The Chair emphasized the importance of innovation, accountability, and strong partnerships in strengthening the education sector and directed the Foundation to ensure timely and effective implementation of all approved initiatives.The Board of Directors approved the following:Induction of facilitators in single-facilitator schools to strengthen teaching capacityApproval of financial proposals of ESEFApproval of exit strategy for NSI and ESS schemes for the upcoming financial yearsEstablishment of a Project Implementation Unit (PIU) for PPP/outsourcing initiativesThe meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by the Board to expand educational access and improve learning outcomes for all children across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
